From Rockridge Manitoba, Ramsey Rae has a large musical family and proud Métis roots to thank for guiding him into a career in music. Known as “Fiddling Blue”, Ramsey comes from a family of thirteen and was always surrounded by the music of the fiddle, spoons, and guitar that are so much a part of the jigging an square dancing that add to the joy of Métis culture.
During his early childhood Ramsey would sit in the kitchen every night with his mother playing music. He would cook up a tune on the fiddle and mom would play along on the guitar.
This is how Ramsey got to be such an accomplished player at such a young age. Those kitchen sessions along with guidance from fiddling instructor Joey Adamowski led Ramsey to begin his recording career with Sunshine Records in 2006. Ramsey feels inspired by Manitoba fiddling greats like Clint Dutiaume, Reg Bouvette, and Cliff Maytwayashing.
